Virgin Galactic Defines, "Commercial Space"

Pictured above is the "new" already in production SpaceShip Two by scaled composites and Burt Rutan. The new SOV (Sub-Orbital Vehicle) is already booking flights for its first "Commercial Flight" in early 2009. The new Ship will be released from the White Knight Two at 45,000 feet and from there the SpaceShip Two will ignite its rocket and shoot to well over 100km above the surface, which is zero gravity. Surprisingly the new SpaceShip Two will be called Virgin Galactic Enterprise! Not quite what Zefram Cochrane had in mind, but who knows where Virgin will take us next!

Is Commercial Space Travel in Our Future?

Last Month I was reading an article in Pop Sci and found it quite interesting.

It struck home with me since I would like to either Pilot or Design new age "Space Planes" otherwise known as SOV's (Sub-Orbital Vehicles). This article is really interesting and it says that full scale Commercial Spaceflight could be as early as 2009!
